Dear Partnership Friends,

people at Set Free San Diego

Warm greetings to each one of you! The following is an awesome update of the Lord's work at Set Free Ministries in San Diego. WOW!

As you know, ICL is all about Isaiah 61:1-3. To bring the news about Jesus Christ to the poor, and set captives free! ICL team along with numerous ministries that partnered with us came together to serve Set Free Ministries. It was so awesome to watch the hand of God bring these teams together, under His anointing, and watch His mighty hand at work! Praise God! ICL team started out from Kansas City, Missouri, with prayer coverage from Pastor Koch and congregation at Christ Triumph Church. To start the conference off right, Sr. Pastor Sampier at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, opened in prayer. So read on friends, and enjoy this unique testimony of God's work at Set Free Ministries!

Jodie at Set Free

Set Free Ministries has been operating for 25 years. It is dedicated to reaching the homeless, addicted, afflicted, the lost, and the hopeless. Men and women are taught the Word of God along with structured programs, such as: Bible studies, recovery meetings, services every day of the week, along with training programs to teach individuals the skills needed to have a positive influence on their lives, the family and community. There are four stages to his programs, which lasts for a period of one year. Over 2000 men and women have gone through Set Free programs, and more to come! Praise God!

While we were at Set Free, we noticed this team is literally on the front lines, walking men and women through the most difficult time of their life, coming off the street, and getting on a path to recovery. One can't help to have great respect, honor, and love for this ministry. It was such a delight to watch them labor for the Lord, and to be included in their labor! We could feel God moving mightily during the whole weekend of August 24-26, 2007. What an honor to partner with this team during the outreach! Read on as to how we saw the Lord work through all the variety of multi-denominational teams, and what transpired! Hallelujah!

Pastor Jack Sampier, Jr.

Set Free prepared a delicious meal, and from then on we were treated as royalty. From the very start we saw individuals come in with slumped shoulders and disinterested looks. But Jesus came in and what a magnificent change that took place! We witnessed heads being lifted up, and hope filled their eyes! Men and women received the Holy Spirit, and either gave their lives, or re-committed their lives to Jesus! We witnessed many feel the touch of the Holy Spirit and receive a spiritual awakening and a transformation was evident as we watched their hands begin to raise and praise the Lord! Men and women (refer to themselves as disciples) responded to the Holy Spirit through the anointing of the ministry teams, whether it was through songs, dance, testimony, giving the word, with open thirsty hearts. Praise God! That was all Jesus needed to go to work! Whew!!

a disciple worshiping God

The Holy Spirit softened hearts, and the disciples responded with weeping, raised hands, and with joyful expression on their faces! We could see hunger and a yearning desire in their eyes for more of the Holy Spirit's touch! What an awesome sight to behold!!!

Jesus even touched the young children!! One in particular, raised his hands, closed his eyes and waited to be prayed over. He felt the power of the Holy Spirit touch him, and rested in the Spirit. We also noticed even the disciples and staff members were overcome in the Spirit. Some of the disciples literally got out of their seats, came up front, and started dancing the only way they knew how to the Lord! Praise God!! We saw their spirit, that was once confined, being released to openly worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It was so exhilarating to watch His mighty hand touch these people in a profound way. The whole weekend went like this. We would return the next day and wonder, "What is God going to do this time?"

disciples praying

When the weekend wound down, we received feedback from the disciples or staff members. One shared, "The Lord reminded me of a situation that grieved Him, I started new friends in Christcrying and immediately repented." Another shared, "I was running from the Lord, and now I feel that I need to answer His call." Yet another shared, "After feeling His presence as strongly as I did, I want to know more and feel this again!" One woman in particular shared, "My marriage was separated for two years, my husband is now here at the outreach. Last night he gave me a diamond ring and asked if we could try again with our marriage," and lastly, one shared, "When I heard that testimony and she spoke of committing her life to Jesus, I felt the Holy Spirit, and I knew, I too, needed to commit my life to Jesus." This man went up for prayer and he too, was touched by the Holy Spirit!
